Here are some interesting reports that didn’t make it into this issue of the Digest.
Over the past 50 years, the rates of childhood cancers have increased by an astonishing 35%. Other non-communicable diseases have increased, as well, including male reproductive birth defects, autism spectrum disorder, asthma, and type 2 diabetes. A recent commentary highlights the role that manufactured chemicals—many of which have not been assessed for their health effects on children—play in driving the uptick in these diseases and calls for legislation to safeguard children’s health.
